INJURED POLICE DECOY IN STABLE CONDITION

LAPU-LAPU City Offers Help, May Commend Officer

THE police officer who got shot in the middle of a drug bust is now in
a stable condition, the head of intelligence for the Lapu-Lapu City
Police Office said yesterday.

The operation in Barangay Looc, where two drug pushing suspects died
in a shootout, will be added to the list of the police office's
anti-narcotic operations since March.

In three months, the LapuLapu police have conducted 43 operations and
filed 175 cases in court related to illegal drugs. They also
confiscated an estimated P1.76 million worth of illegal drugs.

Mayor Paz Radaza said she will talk to Senior Supt. Armando Radoc, the
police force's officer-in-charge (OIC), about a possible commendation
for officers involved in the buy-bust last Monday.

The City Government is willing to help with the medical needs of the
wounded police officer, if needed, the mayor said.

In a press conference, Police Senior Insp. Rogelio Pineda Jr., chief
of the Intelligence Branch, said that PO3 Joseph Villamor, who acted
as the buyer, is now in a stable condition.

He has a gunshot wound in his stomach, but there was reportedly no
damage to his vital organs.

The suspects who were killed during the operation were Marlon Ampatuan
Yongco, 29, from Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City and Romeo Daleon, 30, a
resident of Barangay Looc.

A third suspect who was arrested was identified as Romulo Marinay, 56,
from Duljo Fatima, Cebu City.

The police are still identifying who among the suspects shot Villamor,
because the car the alleged drug pushers used was tinted.

Villamor was walking toward the black vehicle and was about to meet
with Daleon when the gunfire began.

Pineda said their target was Daleon, after they learned that he was
known in Looc for his illegal drug activities.

Two large sachets containing shabu with a street value of P48,000 were
found in Marinay's pocket, Pineda said.

There were 13 smaller sachets recovered from Daleon, while a Colt .45
pistol was found near Yongco.

The police will file a case against Marinay for alleged violations of
Section 11 of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act
of 2002.

During their press conference yesterday, the police said they have
confiscated 1.49 grams of marijuana and 368.86 grams of shabu in the
three months since Radoc began serving as OIC.

"We are strictly monitoring the progress of the cases we filed in
court," Radoc said.
