VOTE TO LEGALIZE MEDICAL MARIJUANA

This fall, Floridians will vote on Proposition 2 and decide whether
to legalize medical marijuana. Floridians should be aware of the vote
and educate themselves on the data surrounding medical marijuana.

On Aug. 14, 1970, Assistant Secretary of Health Roger Egeberg wrote
that marijuana should be classified as a Schedule One substance and
declared illegal. Egeberg said many things were still unknown about
marijuana, and there weren't enough scientific studies to allow it to
be legal. Marijuana was not made illegal due to concrete scientific
knowledge, but because there was none.

This vote will be to allow medical marijuana in our state. Medical
marijuana has been shown to assist in limiting seizures, fighting
cancer and preventing pain in patients. The purpose of this vote is
to allow medical marijuana in Florida due to the medical implications
that it will have.

Medical marijuana has helped many people, such as Charlotte Fig who,
on medicinal marijuana, went from having 300 seizures a week to two
or three a week. It should have a positive effect on Florida.
