MARIJUANA: YOUR GUIDE TO 4/20 IN COLORADO SPRINGS

Your 4/20 Calendar

While July 10 makes its push for relevancy - the date, "710," is the
word "OIL" upside down, a reference to increasingly popular
variations of butane-extracted hash oil - April 20 reigns supreme on
the cannabis calendar. So with that in mind, here's where to
celebrate this Sunday. (Note: All events are 21 and up.)

Starting at noon, Club 710 (1609 S. Nevada Ave., 321/626-9469) will
charge members $10 and nonmembers $20 to come enjoy its "day of 420
festivities." Goers will find a free bud, vape and dab bar as well as
"WAR OF THE WORLDS rap battles" showcasing 16 emcees from seven
states. DJ Lay It Down will take over at 10 p.m.

Similarly, the Lazy Lion (2502 E. Bijou St., thelazylion420.com) says
non-members can pay $5 for a one-day membership and another $5 for
entrance to its noon 4/20 party, where live music will combine with
guest stars from the VH1 reality show Black Ink Crew.

Doors open at 4 p.m. at Cloud 9 Cannabis Bar (419 N. Santa Fe Ave.,
Pueblo, 719/321-8326), where $5 gets you in if you bring your own
bud. It's $20 if you want VIP access, which includes complimentary
dabs of shatter hash off of Colorado Springs' Green Monster Glass.
Also find snacks, drinks, pool, movies from Netflix and more.

At 8 p.m., Speak Easy Vape Lounge (2508 E. Bijou St.,
speakeasycannabisclub.com) will host a celebratory smoke-out and
fireworks show.

Also on Saturday and Sunday, the International Cannabis Technology
Expo will fill The Mining Exchange (8 S. Nevada Ave.,
mmjbusinessacademy.com) with booths, lectures, vendors, live music
and more. See the ReLeaf for details.

Then there's everything happening in Denver: the annual Civic Center
rally; High Times' Cannabis Cup; and the Snoop Dogg/Wiz Khalifa
concert, to name just a (very) few. The Denver Post has a good
roundup at thecannabist.co.

Expanding the farm

Last week, the Manitou Springs Planning Commission approved Bill
Conkling's application to open a Maggie's Farm
(maggiesfarmmarijuana.com) location, setting it up to be one of two
RMJ stores to operate in the city. The process now moves to Manitou's
Council, which will consider the issue in early May. "Conkling said
his medical businesses contributed $217,000 in sales tax revenue in
2013," the Gazette reported.

State tax spikes

Tax numbers are in, and the state of Colorado collected $3.2 million
in marijuana taxes in February, up from the $2.9 million in January.
The special 10 percent recreational-marijuana sales tax generated
$1.43 million, while the 15 percent excise tax, earmarked for school
construction, brought in $339,615.
