AN UNFAIR COMPARISON

Jeani West (Mailbag, March 22) should expect the freedom to smoke
cigarettes; however, it's a mistake comparing cannabis (marijuana)
with cigs and some truths must be clarified.

Cannabis prohibitionists have claimed the plant causes cancer, yet in
over 5,000 years of documented use cannabis hasn't killed one single
person, while cigarettes kill over 1,000 Americans daily.

Second-hand cigarette smoke kills tens of thousands. Cigarettes are
among the most addictive substances on earth, while cannabis is less
addictive than coffee.

Don't justify using deadly cancer sticks by comparing them to a plant
demonstrating safety on a biblical scale.
