SHOW BENEFITS TO GET POT LEGALIZED

While I am happy that this bill has made some advancement in the
House, I still believe that, unfortunately, Florida still has a long
way to go before it legalizes medical marijuana or marijuana in
general ("House panel OKs bill to legalize pot for seizures," March
21). The fact that the children in the article who suffer from
epilepsy get relief from the liquid marijuana and are able to get off
of feeding tubes is remarkable.

We are so quick to pinpoint marijuana as this evil "gateway drug" that
ruins the lives of individuals, when it in fact can be beneficial in
terms of medical use. It is beyond me that in a country where
cigarettes and alcohol (both of which have can have detrimental
effects on the body) are legal, marijuana (which has never killed
anyone) is not legal.

If we can continue to show the benefits of medical marijuana in
individuals of all ages, then hopefully this bill will get passed and
more children like these can get the help that they need.
