HARM REDUCTION POLICIES

Re: Canada's drug policy is in with the wrong crowd, Feb. 26

A recent article by the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy on
HIV/AIDS in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Michel Kazatchkine, laid
bare our government's policy toward illicit drug use. In it, the
author exposes how, to the dismay of the international community,
Canada has joined the ranks of Russia and China by distancing itself
from our heretofore much-vaunted harm reduction policies.

This is a yet another indisputable example of how our government will
adopt policies to fit an ideological framework that completely
disregards scientific evidence. And this time, it is costing lives.
Please wake me up from this nightmare.
