ALCOHOL IS TAXED; WHY NOT MARIJUANA?

The letter-writer who contends that pot is not the way to raise
revenues appears to have forgotten one small fact of life. Change
certain words in the letter - marijuana to alcohol, smoke to drink and
stoned to drunk - and the writer is describing the situation in regard
to the taxes society imposes on alcohol. Does he contend that we
should stop those taxes also? And why do I get the feeling that
"reducing spending" is his code for gutting all the social programs
for the "people" he probably thinks smoke the most marijuana?
