HISTORY LESSON UNLEARNED

The original Prohibition on a national scale brought us Al Capone. The
sequel("Futile drug war just drags on," Ledger-Enquirer, Dec. 7, 2013)
has brought the Pablo Escobars, Osama bin Ladens and their waiting
replacements. Murder rates decreased for 10 years after ending the
original prohibition, and ending the sequel will have the same results.

At the very minimum it's time to Re-legalize the relatively safe
God-given plant cannabis (marijuana). Cannabis prohibition is
responsible for increased hard drug addiction rates, contempt for drug
laws, eroded constitutional rights, escalated prison populations,
corrupt politicians, race discrimination and prohibiting free American
farmers from growing hemp (even though communist Chinese farmers grow
it), and costs trillions of dollars.
