POT ADVOCATES SELLING 'CANNABUS'

Sensible BC is selling its "Cannabus" for what the pro-pot group hopes
is a smoking-good deal.

The 35-foot motorhome was used by the group during its campaign to
force a referendum on decriminalizing marijuana. The vehicle was
listed on eBay Wednesday for $25,000.

Merv Ritchie bought the bus just before the campaign began in
September and said he's hoping to sell it to someone who appreciates
its symbolic importance.

"I can't bear to take these decals and signatures off this bus," said
Ritchie. "It's a representation of this initiative and I don't think
it's fair to all the people that signed this bus for me to just go
ahead and paint over them or wash it all off."

Ritchie noted in his listing for the 51-year-old coach, which was once
used by Greyhound, that its engine leaks fuel and burns oil, though he
said it's a "beautiful home and quite comfortable.

"It goes fast - you can pretty much go 100 miles per hour in it," said
Ritchie. "It gets about 10 miles per gallon no matter what you do."

The sale comes during the final week of Sensible BC's campaign. The
organization must deliver over 400,000 signatures to Elections BC by
next Monday.

Sensible BC organizer Dana Larsen said he doesn't have a tally of
signatures acquired so far, but campaigners told 24 hours over 200,000
people had signed the petition by Wednesday. Larsen said they will
canvass in Vancouver right up to the last minute.

"We're definitely as a movement stronger now than we were when we
started," said Larsen.
