But the campaign needs a push if it's to make its target by the deadline of Dec. 5, Cory Pahl, SensibleBC's representative in the riding of Parksville-Qualicum, said on Thursday last week. "By our accounts we have close to 3,000 that we have sent in," Pahl said, "but we need 1,000 to 3,000 more just to make it and another 2,000 just to be safe, for a total of 3,000 more that we would like. "We have less than a month to go and we still need a lot of signatures, if people could please go down to Shades of Green, 117 Craig St. in Parksville to sign the petition before Dec. 5." Anyone wanting to sign the petition can call (250) 951-2923 and a volunteer will come to them. The campaign can also use more volunteers, Pahl said, and representatives will attend community events if invited. If the province-wide campaign gathers more than 400,000 signatures by Dec. 5, the government will be required to hold a referendum on decriminalization. - --- MAP posted-by: Jay Bergstrom
