MCDANIEL REJECTS 'POT' BALLOT 4TH TIME

Attorney General Dustin McDaniel on Wednesday rejected a proposed
constitutional amendment to repeal all of the state's marijuana laws.

McDaniel wrote in a letter to the proposal's author, Marjorie LeClair
of Shirley, that he was rejecting the measure for the fourth time
because of ambiguities in the text that would make it unclear to voters.

The proposed constitutional amendment, titled "Ban Prohibition of
Cannabis," was unclear about its effect on future legislation, didn't
say what laws were covered under the proposal and was misleading
about current federal regulations, McDaniel wrote.

McDaniel reiterated several points he made in rejecting the measure
in the past, which he did on Sept. 13, Aug. 19 and July 1. He also
encouraged LeClair, as he has previously, to seek assistance in
reviewing the proposal, either by an attorney or experts of her choosing.

"This suggestion appears particularly appropriate in light of the
fact that your brief current submission contains both a run-on
construction and an egregious misspelling," McDaniel wrote.

The attorney general reviews all proposed constitutional amendments
and initiated acts before their authors can obtain the necessary
signatures to get the measures on a ballot.
