LEGALIZE POT TO RAISE TAX MONEY

We should not be giving tax breaks to companies instead of citizens
["Tax cuts on agenda in Albany," News, Sept. 5]. A better idea for
tax relief would be to legalize and tax marijuana, which would bring
in a lot of revenue. Legalizing this drug would mean we could reduce
funding for police and corrections. Also, legalizing pot would mean
more people could get and keep jobs, as too many people lose jobs
because of cruel testing for marijuana use. These tests hurt good
people. This does not make sense.

Legalizing pot would reduce alcohol use, which could reduce domestic
violence, as well as the number of fatal accidents caused by drunken
drivers. Pot could be used in place of many drugs that have dangerous
side effects, such as dementia.

If it does not get legalized in New York, I might as well move to
where it is and pay less in taxes too.
