QUESTIONS ABOUT COLO. MARIJUANA

Re: "Pot spilling out of state; Legalization of the drug will only
increase its export, police say," Sept. 4 news story.

Compliments to the writers of this article. Good journalism often
raises as many questions as it answers. Here are some that came to my
mind.

Saying that marijuana is now legal, and being able to go out and
purchase it legally, as of this writing, are two completely different
things. Since the citizens of Colorado cannot at this time legally
purchase recreational marijuana, where is all this pot coming from
that is spilling out of the state?

Next, the article says that "Reporting seizure numbers to the [Drug
Enforcement Agency] is voluntary." So the DEA has no idea how much is
seized, or consequently how much of it is making its way back to the
streets?

That is an observation in itself that might make an interesting
journalistic report, for the bold.
