MEDICAL POT - OBAMA'S BROKEN PROMISE

While I applaud Attorney General Eric Holder's new stance on drug
sentencing ("Big shift in drug sentencing," Aug. 13), he missed a
golden opportunity to make good on President Obama's 2008 preelection
promise to allow individual states to deal with their medical
marijuana laws and enforcement without federal government interference.

The irony here is these prosecutions have added tremendously to the
prison overcrowding Holder addressed in his speech. President Obama,
whom I generally admire, thanks to the carefully constructed press
conferences he's had over the years has never had to address that
promise he made, and broke, to the American public.
