POT: TO LEGALIZE OR NOT

Re: Legalizing pot, endorsing stupidity, Aug. 7

Ms DiManno says, "The zealous crusade against smoking can hardly be
countenanced while simultaneously promoting easier access to
cannabis. Any government that would assume this posture is blowing
out of both sides of its mouth."

I'm afraid it is DiManno who is hopelessly confused here. She seems
to be forgetting that tobacco smoking is legal while marijuana
smoking is not. Making the approach to controlling marijuana similar
to that governing tobacco is not only logical but just.

The government could even utilize the savings from ending its costly
and failing marijuana prohibition law to redouble its "zealous
crusade" against both tobacco and marijuana.
