DRUG SCARE

Look out, there could be a drug injection site in your backyard!

The Conservative Party of Canada is making an emotional appeal to the
public to sign a "Keep heroin out of our backyards" petition
supporting the party's proposed legislation tightening regulations
around supervised drug injection sites.

In a June 6 letter from high-ranking Conservative Party campaign
manager Jenni Byrne to recipients' personal emails, people were
asked: "Do you want a supervised drug consumption site in your
community? These are facilities where drug addicts get to shoot up
heroin and other illicit drugs. I don't want one anywhere near my
home.... The Trudeau Liberals and Mulcair NDP are against us. They
want to repeat the experiment of Vancouver's Insite facility across
the country - maybe even in your community.... Add your name if you
demand a say before a supervised drug consumption site is opened
close to your family."

Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq tabled the proposed legislation, Bill
C-65 or the "Respect for communities act," on June 6.

Email addresses are from the CPC email list, which people are asked
to subscribe to on the CPC's online homepage and regularly throughout
the party website.
