NO SYMPATHY FOR SEIZURE

The Editor,

In the March 26th edition of the Now, Eric Wirsching and James Redjohn
wrote that the recent house seizure by the government resulting from
the discovery of a marijuana grow-op was too severe for the crime.

May they be reminded that many of the 11 murders thus far this year
have been related to drugs and gang violence in Surrey. The profits
from the cultivation and sale of illegal drugs certainly affords the
criminals a rich lifestyle before they are caught, so why should they
continue to profit from assets gained from criminal activities after
they are caught?

All "busted" grow-ops should result in forfeiture of the properties,
regardless of the amount of plants seized. Maybe then our city would
start to make a dent in the criminal plague that now exists.
