Chase MARIJUANA LAW CRUEL ON PATIENTS; FLORIDA SHOULD ALLOW MEDICAL USE Re: Feb. 26 article about Manatee deputies seizing marijuana plants at disabled woman's home: When I picked up the Bradenton Herald I thought the Manatee sheriff had lost his mind. How else could he suddenly decide that a woman he has allowed to smoke openly for many years now endangers public safety. She has been telling anyone who would listen how cannabis relaxes her muscle spasms so she can swallow. About 10 years ago she told me how she confronted Gov. Jeb Bush in a parking lot in Tallahassee with "Why am I not allowed to have my medicine?" But she was. Marijuana prohibition is a useless, cruel policy, and it must change. When it does, credit will go to brave patients like Cathy Jordan. John G. Chase Palm Harbor - --- MAP posted-by: Jay Bergstrom
