PHARMACEUTICAL VIOLENCE

Re: Jan. 27 article, "Acts of violence spike at Austin State
Hospital" and Jan. 27 commentary, "Rise in violence demands attention."

There is a link between psychotropic pharmaceuticals and violence,
including the violent slaughter of innocents. Our soldiers are coming
home from war zones and committing suicide because of the carnage of
innocents they have witnessed or from psychotropic
pharmaceutical-induced side effects. Many experts agree FDA-approved
legal drugs are a major contributing factor to many lives ended or
ruined. The debate over medical marijuana or cannabis is really a
scandalous controversy over whether this very easy-to-grow cheaply,
safe herb should be allowed to compete with dangerous pharmaceuticals.

Big business and big government have a scandalous mutually beneficial
love affair going on. That's the opposite of a free market. The
Constitution doesn't authorize Congress to subsidize industries or
grant special favors to particular businesses like the pharmaceutical
drug pushers, financiers and the military industrial complex.
