COLORADO VOTERS' APPROVAL OF MARIJUANA LEGALIZATION

Re: "Coloradans say yes to recreational use of marijuana," Nov. 7 news
story.

Colorado and Washington legalized marijuana on Tuesday, and other
states will follow. This will open up many business opportunities for
thousands, if not millions, of people. Colorado universities and the
state of Colorado should recognize this and start educational programs
on the marijuana business, perhaps even degree programs. Colorado
State University could start courses in marijuana cultivation and
become the prime cultivator of marijuana in the state, or the prime
teacher of cultivation knowledge in the state.

With such a setup, the federal government would have a very hard time
intervening in the will of the people of Colorado.

States need to recognize that by taking the marijuana business away
from criminals, the general population can benefit greatly. Despite
all the fear mongering, marijuana remains much safer than either
alcohol or tobacco, two legal substances.
