DECRIMINALIZE DRUGS

As a conservative Republican, I don't agree with much of Cook County
Board President Toni Preckwinkle's politics. She is a big-government,
liberal Democrat.

However, I choose to be "liberally" open-minded on all issues. When
it comes to the drug problem in our nation, I implore all of us
leaders and non-leaders to be extremely open-minded.

I believe it is time in America to consider decriminalizing most drugs.

This may take the huge profits away from the despicable drug dealers.
We need families to raise smarter children who will not abuse drugs.
We can't just rely on government.

Preckwinkle's caustic remark about President Ronald Reagan was not
nice, but it is also high time we realize that politics is not a
business for the faint of heart or the squeamish.

If Preckwinkle wants to take government away from wasting our time
and money on a feeble war on drugs, more power to her.
