LET'S GET ON WITH DECRIMINALIZING POT

Re: "Driver in fatal crash pleads guilty in drug case," June 9.

Not withstanding the separate deadly car crash issue that may yet be
unresolved, I would just like to know what it will cost us for the
police time, court time, judge, bailiffs, lawyers, Crown counsel, the
pending 14-day incarceration, probation services and whatever else is
required to punish this "criminal" for the sale of what amounts to
less than one ounce of pot, presumably to people who actually enjoy smoking it.

Do the math - this bust succeeded in getting $160 worth of marijuana
off our streets and out of the reach of our innocent children.

Of course, we should also consider, once this wayward youth is
"rehabilitated" by a fortnight in jail, what his future holds when he
can proudly put criminal record and prison sentence on his resume.

What a ridiculous waste of time and money. Can we not just get on
with decriminalizing pot once and for all?
