POT LEGALIZATION ADVOCATES FAIL TO CONVINCE SCHOOL TRUSTEE

Re: Alcohol prohibition did not save lives, Letters, May 5

Whatever we think our social policies should be, the fact is during
the Prohibition era death rates from cirrhosis of the liver, and the
consumption of alcohol went down together.

For this information, see the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and
Alcoholism of the National Institutes of Health - The Epidemiology of
Alcoholic Liver Disease.

I stand by my comments on the negative effect marijuana has on
developing adolescents, and after nearly 18 years as a public school
trustee I've seen it up close and personal.

I may well be naive, but George Kosinski's opinion that "people would
be motivated to buy legal marijuana" earns my skepticism. If marijuana
is legalized then time will tell. Until then, mark me down as doubtful.
