MEDICAL MARIJUANA BUSINESS BUSTED

Police say TLC Services was selling marijuana illegally; later in day
cops bust an indoor grass-growing operation.L.

SOUTH HAVEN - A South Haven medical marijuana dispensary business is
the target of a police probe into illegal marijuana sales.

TLC Services, 1425 Kalamazoo St., was raided by Van Buren County
Sheriff's narcotics officers and other law enforcement officers at
12:30 p.m. Thursday as part of a police investigation, Sgt. Jim Dietz
reported.

Police seized marijuana and hashish, business records and computers,
along with scales and packaging materials. Also, $4,731 in cash was
seized under civil forfeiture laws.

Dietz said a store employee, a 46-year-old South Haven man, is one of
three suspects in an alleged illegal pot ring. Two other suspects are
a South Haven man, 54, and a Coloma man, 44. No arrests have yet been
made because the investigation is continuing, Dietz said Friday.

Dietz stressed that the raid does not represent a new focus by police
on legitimate sales of medical marijuana to people who have
state-issued medical marijuana cards.

Michigan voters in 2008 approved the Michigan Medical Marijuana Act,
which allows for legal medical marijuana sales to card holders.

"They were not complying" with the tenets of the medical marijuana
law, Dietz said.

He declined to be more specific, citing the ongoing investigation.
