STAN GARNETT UNDERMINING FEDERAL MARIJUANA EFFORTS

Stan Garnett lost the election for attorney general in 2010 to one U.S.  Attorney, John Suthers, and now desires to take on the present U.  S.  Attorney, John Walsh, with respect to Mr.  Walsh's efforts to preclude medical marijuana sales from occurring within 1,000 feet of schools.

The de facto attorney general, of the Independent Republic of Boulder, presumptuously writes to the U.S.  attorney telling him what federal laws he ought to enforce and where his prosecutorial priorities should lie.  Like it or not, we are a city in the United States of America and are bound by federal law.

Moreover, when federal and local laws are in conflict federal law prevails.  What a shame that the chief law enforcement officer of our city would take such a public position to undermine the legitimate efforts of his federal counterpart.  Mine may be a lonely voice, but thank you Mr.  Suthers!
