RAE LIBERALS FIGHT CONFUSION

Dear Editor,

My thanks are extended to Bob Rae and the new federal Liberal
Party.

My husband has been fighting Alzheimers for 14 years. It makes him
easily confused and frustrated. He is taking Aricept and calming
prescriptions, but the only thing that calms his anxiety is marijuana.

It is not perfect, but it is the only thing that lets me keep him out
of a home.

His particular Alzheimers is an exceedingly slow progression. It is an
insidious disease that has robbed him of so many joys of life.

His doctor prescribed medical marijuana, but I have not been able to
obtain a card for him.

I am not willing to try growing it for him, Health Canada does not
supply hashish, and I can't find someone to legally grow it for him.
Thus I am a criminal for buying it off the street.

Langley had a perfectly good medical marijuana dispensary for a few
months, but Langley City would not give him a business license. The
RCMP closed it down, and the owner has since been charged with
trafficking, for trying to help Ross and many other people who have
prescriptions to obtain medical marijuana.

Health Canada knows its system is not working fairly, but will not be
making any changes until at least 2014. Ross could be dead by then,
and I cannot wait for our government to catch up with need, and become
enlightened about the many benefits of cannabis.

Lorraine Hubbs,

Langley
