IS HISTORY REPEATING ITSELF?

The Harper government will protect marijuana trafficking.

Such was the message in the prime minister's response to leading
public officials in B.C. declaring their support for
decriminalization, regulation and even taxation of the marijuana industry.

The conservatives will not only protect traffickers whose profits
derive from the risk of criminal sanctions, they will bolster trade in
illegal weapons used for protection or to "take out" competitors.

Harper declares that his government will repress marijuana use among
young people. That's not likely. The history of such prohibitions are
replete with failure.
