DRUG HOUSE INDICATIVE OF A BIGGER PORT HANEY PROBLEM

DEAR EDITOR,

I don't want to rain on the Port Haney Initiative efforts to improve
the neighbourhood, but the fact is this is still a major drug area.

The prostitutes who operate here, do so because their drug dealers are
down the street at the "Pine." As soon as they do their tricks they
run to get their fixes.

The meth lab [See story page A1] is just one more example of how the
area is used for the production and sale of drugs.

I walk by that house every morning on the way to work, and I'm happy
that it didn't blow up when I was walking by.

I believe it is the responsibility of the owners who rent to these
people to avoid these operations.

And, I hope that the owner is billed for the expense of cleaning it
up.

I'm not too sure how the Port Haney initiative is affecting change in
the area. I'm not trying to blame them, but I think enforcement is the
only way.
