WELFARE RECIPIENTS SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE

Regarding the editorial "Invasive orders," Orlando Sentinel, Wednesday:
While I and countless millions like me go to work each day, how in good
conscience can the editorial board not embrace the governor's bill that
would require those in receipt of my tax dollars in the form of state
assistance to comply with the law?

Providing welfare, food stamps or any other form of subsidy to those
who are using our tax dollars to enjoy illegal drugs instead of
seeking legitimate employment makes no sense. As taxpayers, we deserve
accountability from those seeking assistance. If you are doing illegal
drugs, don't expect the taxpayers to fund your bad habits.

We are in unusual times that demand everyone make an effort. If it is
illegal, there should be consequences. This country was founded on
hard work and a belief in the ability to succeed, not sitting under a
shade tree waiting for the next free ride.

If you doubt the opinion of Florida citizens on this issue, have it
put to a referendum. I think the majority would applaud the
opportunity to express their will.
