ELMWOOD TWP. UPDATING MARIJUANA ZONING

GREILICKVILLE - Elmwood is the first township in Leelanau County to
draft changes to its zoning ordinance to deal with the budding medical
marijuana industry in northern Michigan.

Elmwood's planning commission's proposed rules allow for collectives
in C-1 and C-2 commercial districts, but prohibit smoking or ingesting
marijuana on-site. It also prohibits collectives within 1,000 feet of
a school or another collective.

Another amendment allows for the cultivation of marijuana in C-4
commercial districts, but again, not within 1,000 feet of a school or
collective.

The county's planning commission will review the draft amendments at a
meeting Friday.
