MARIJUANA'S JUST A PLANT

EDITOR,

I would like to air my opinion of the current debate over whether
marijuana should be legalized.

I think if we stop referring to marijuana as a drug it would be
easier to help people see the error of their thinking. After all, it
is a plant; it is not processed into another substance such as opium.
Poppies are a plant but then it is processed into another substance.
Marijuana is just a plant: dried, smoked, vaporized or eaten. It is
an organic means of attaining many benefits. Yes, some people become
addicted to it, but if you watch television, some people are addicted
to eating toilet paper or Comet. Should we ban all toilet paper so no
one dies of bowel obstruction? People should regulate their own
addictions. Alcohol and cigarettes kill more people than marijuana,
yet to my knowledge there are no benefits to smoking or alcohol.
