LETTER OF THE WEEK

To the editor:

Re: "Cops sound alarm about possible bad heroin," Jan. 19.

I am disappointed that this article failed to point out that the only
reason these people are dead is because of prohibition and the
maintenance of the nanny state that tells us what we can and cannot
consume.

When drugs are re-legalized and regulated, we will still have all the
problems we currently have with people misusing drugs, but we won't
have people dying because of unknown purity of drugs and we won't have
all the crime associated with the black markets.

Nor will we pay through the nose to support the prison industrial
complex that has grown to treat people with medical problems as criminals.

I can't wait.
