MARIJUANA IS NOT HARMLESS AS TOO MANY PEOPLE INSIST

My condolence to Kathleen Richardson, who states in her Nov. 18
letter the effect the drug marijuana had on her son, who died while
under the influence. People keep insisting that drug is harmless but
I beg to differ.

A young man with whom I worked had been in Vietnam. He explained to
me how marijuana affected him and his fellow soldiers. He said the
drug takes away all your ambition and when they had a day off to go
away from camp, they just sat around the camp. He was a very smart
guy and he stopped using that drug. So, it is not just the happy
relaxer they say.

Drug use of any kind should be treated by a long-term drug program,
with no-nonsense rules designed to change the person involved. I know
three people who have gone through this and successfully kicked the
habit to go on to successful lives.
