MONTANA METH PROJECT: EFFORT HAS MADE POSITIVE DIFFERENCE

When I heard about the news story questioning the validity of the
Meth Project, I was offended ("Research discounts anti-meth ad
project," Sept. 22).

I have not only been a part of the Montana Meth Project, but also
have someone close to me who used to be a meth addict. When he heard
about my involvement in the project he told me he was very proud of
me and that if he had someone to teach him the consequences of meth
use, he probably wouldn't have touched the drug.

Even teachers have said they don't see meth in the mainstream any
more. I still promote the project in my school and in my community.
When I discussed the project with teachers, their opinion was the
Montana Meth Project has been effective cleaning meth from the schools.

I highly encourage not only teens to talk about it with their
friends, but I encourage parents to talk to their kids about meth. If
anyone has or knows of anyone who has considered doing meth, speak
out to them and talk to them before they start. Believe it or not,
your opinion matters.
