FELGER RELOCATES DOWNTOWN

Marijuana activist Tim Felger has a new location in Mission for his
store, which he concedes is "DaKine with a new name."

DaKine was his Abbotsford store, which he was forced to vacate after a
rental dispute with his onetime business partner.

The new location is in a second storey storefront at the corner of
Horne and North Railway. He expects it to be open by the end of this
week.

He said the store will carry convenience items, "munchies," bongs and
glassware, T-shirts and novelties.

The name of the new store will be Dasbhang, which he explains combines
the German word for "it's" with the Punjabi word for "cannabis."

Felger said the new store will also be the site of his political
office, as he plans to run for district council next year. So does his
girlfriend and business partner.

"Both Amanda [Deschamp] and I are planning on running for political
office," said Felger.

He said they are motivated by the district allowing commercial
development which he says will take customers and investors away from
the First Avenue business district.

"[Mayor James] Atebe has set the stage for downtown to be gutted
economically," said Felger, who ran for the Mission mayor's chair in
2005.

Felger tried to open a store in another Mission location, but moved
after numerous complaints about an alleged marijuana smell led to
frequent visits from the RCMP and a search by a municipal safety inspector.
