MUTILATED BODY SCATTERED IN JUAREZ

Mexican federal police found parts of a mutilated body, possibly of a
federal officer, scattered on a boulevard next to the Rio Grande in
Juarez on Tuesday evening.

A severed head was left atop the sun roof of a black sport utility
vehicle near the fairgrounds on Cuatro Siglos boulevard, which runs
parallel to the Cesar Chavez Border Highway in El Paso.

A note was reportedly left with the body accusing corrupt federal
police of working for the Sinaloa drug cartel led by Joaquin "Chapo"
Guzman.

The Juarez drug cartel claims that federal police are assisting the
rival Sinaloa cartel.

On Tuesday evening, federal police responded to reports of a gunfight
and sounds of explosions in the colonia Melchor Ocampo. Police found
two bullet-riddled vehicles, a Dodge Ram and a Jeep Grand Cherokee
with Texas plates.

Police were guarding a nearby warehouse, but further information had
not been released.

In other news, federal police on Monday arrested three Mexicles gang
members when they allegedly tried to kill a member of La Linea, or
Juarez drug cartel, officials said Tuesday.

The Mexicles gang works for the Sinaloa cartel.

The men were in a sport utility vehicle stopped after a pursuit that
began when police were following a tip. A 9 mm handgun was seized.

The arrested were identified as [name redacted}, 35; [name redacted} 30;
and [name redacted}, 18.
