CARTOON ON TARGET

I write in response to Sharon Shambaugh, who, as a Christian, was
offended by your editorial cartoon depicting Roger Christie being
crucified (Tribune-Herald, Aug. 1).

Ms. Shambaugh, you brought up an interesting point and gave me food
for thought. There are parallels that cannot be ignored here.

Jesus expelled the moneylenders from the temple and so angered them
that they colluded with the Romans to try him. Roger Christie led the
"Peaceful Skies" movement that took federal drug money from our
Police Department. This so angered the police that they harassed and
hounded him and his ministry.

Jesus healed the sick and had compassion for all who were suffering.
Roger Christie and his ministry led the local movement for medicinal
use of marijuana to help the suffering.

So, Ms. Shambaugh, I would say that rather than being offensive, that
editorial cartoon was right on!
