WATCH OUT FOR POT, URGES CRIME STOPPERS

Crime Stoppers of Oxford is reminding citizens to be on the lookout
for suspicious activity in rural areas.

The outdoor cultivation of marijuana throughout Ontario's rural
communities is as common as: ice cream cones in summer! This is the
time when transplanting is taking place.

The Marijuana plants are usually started indoors during winter /
spring months until they mature enough to be transplanted to outdoor
areas, where they can flourish up to 8 feet tall. Generally, the
plants have been grown in fields along side other legitimate crops to
hide the illegal substance.

This is often done without the consent of the landowner.

Recently, those responsible have started to plant their crops in more
secluded wood lots to conceal their plants from view of air traffic.

Police are well aware of this illegal activity but are asking for your
help.

If you notice suspicious activity of persons going in remote areas or
woodlot locations or if you have observed marijuana growing anywhere
- -Do the right thing, Call Crime Stoppers and provide details of what
you have seen.

Crime Stoppers callers never have to identify themselves or give
evidence in court and are eligible for a cash reward up to $2,000.
Crime Stoppers does not subscribe to call display.

And remember -you are doing the right thing.
