PROPOSED LAW NOT A GOOD FIT

Dear editor,

Re: Drug biz parents should lose kids: police chief, May 31.

The problems with marijuana grow-ops described by Orangeville police
chief Joseph Tomei were created by the law making marijuana illegal.
If tomatoes were banned, children in tomato grow-ops would be
threatened by the exact same dangers.

Shouldn't we expect our law enforcement "experts" to make this plain
to us so that we can do away with ineffective and counter-productive
laws such this?

I guess not. Unfortunately, most police officers join chief Tomei in
supporting bad laws that increase the power and budgets of the police.
