MARIJUANA RULES TOO RESTRICTIVE

The medical marijuana regulations proposed by San Jose's city staff and the
city attorney at the June 7 council meeting are unreasonable and unacceptable.

The council will vote Tuesday on the Medical Marijuana Urgency Ordinance. I
oppose this ordinance. The city is suggesting that there only be 10
collectives allowed. San Jose is the 10th largest city in the country
covering 178.2 square miles with a population of nearly 1 million. The
minimum for the city should be 100.

The staff recommended that a lottery be used for dispensary applicants. The
city should review each applicant and determine their eligibility based on
their application, business plan and background checks not a lottery.
