DEFEND ANTI-NEEDLE BYLAW

The picture and report of the march on city hall by the drug addicts
suggest the city is at fault for deaths within the ranks of the drug
addicts. Sadly, the editorial in your paper tends to sympathize with
their position.

However, the facts are quite clear:

The addicts started and continue to take illegal drugs on their own
initiative and are involved in criminal activity to support their
habit. They have no desire or intent to turn from their addiction and
want the rest of society to contribute to their problems.

They have no desire or intention of abiding by the law but are willing
to contribute to anarchy in their own specific field by purchasing
their contraband from drug pushers - all of whom obviously pay no tax
on their illicit income.

I have no problem with a program that assists seriously minded addicts
to rid themselves of their addiction, but there is no viable excuse
for setting up a program that does nothing but promote drug abuse.
There is definitely more danger in being involved in illicit drug use
than any needle exchange.

If the addicts are determined to continue in their addiction, they
should be made to face the consequences even if that results in death
from a drug overdose or conflict, and yes, if that results in problems
from using dirty needles.

Undoubtedly, some lawyer with no standard of morality or respect for
the laws of the country will take on their cause. Such a lawyer could
only be described as a bottom-feeder with no standards of morality or
respect for society.

I sincerely trust our mayor and council will vigorously defend the
bylaw and that they will have the full support of both the courts and
the senior governments.
