POTHEADS TO SPARK UP FOR 4/20 DAY

The sweet aroma of marijuana will waft through air at one of the
city's busiest intersections Tuesday afternoon as pot smokers unite to
temporarily turn Dundas Square into an outdoor cannabis cafe.

A group called Toronto Hash Mob (THM) is inviting stoners to once
again converge on the square and share a joint in honour of 4/20,
which is held annually on Apr. 20 and is widely known as the pot
holiday in cannabis culture.

It's the fourth year in a row of "protesting pot prohibition by openly
defying it," THM said in a press release.

"(And it comes at) a time when Stephen Harper's Conservative
government is attempting to pass failed American style drug laws, laws
that will put more peaceful potheads in prison," the group states.

THM estimates more than 1,000 pot smokers will fill the square
starting at 2 p.m. and the event will culminate with everyone in
attendance sparking up at 4:20 p.m. Smoking weed at 4:20 p.m. on 4/20
clearly qualifies as a flash mob activity," marijuana activist Matt
Mernagh said in the release. Organizers encourage attendees to bring
their own "bongs, buds and personal entertainment" to the event, which
does not have a permit.

"Toronto Hash Mob hope next year they will be issued a permit," the
group said. "Not to hold an anti-prohibition protest, but to celebrate
cannabis being legalized."
