METHADONE CLINIC NEEDED

Where is the compassion for those in need? This methadone clinic is a
way for people with real problems to try and get clean. This city has
become the "not in my backyard" capital of Canada. We need a jail but
not there. We need a bridge but not there. Addicts need help but not
in my neighbourhood.

This is not a place where people go to get high. I think anyone who
says we should close down Brentwood would get the wrath of the city.
Why should the reaction to the methadone clinic be any different than
Brentwood?

These people are doing good for our society and our city. Much of the
property crime in this city is fuelled by the need of addicts to
attain money to buy drugs. I imagine these crimes happen in this
neighbourhood, too.

We need to learn from our past and look at the root of our societal
problems. The problem is not with the methadone clinic, it is with the
stigma associated with it.
