WASHINGTON OBLIVIOUS TO BORDER MESS

Neglect Is Costing Lives Along Border, Causing a Huge "Meth" in U.S. Cities

Bodies are still piling up at the border. New tunnels have been found
underneath it. And Mexican methamphetamine is so poisoning America
that officials found $44.6 million worth of it just days ago -- in a
modest house in Norcross, Ga.

Yet, according to the Washington Post , a report on the depth of the
Mexican meth problem by the Justice Department's National Drug
Intelligence Center was "not released for fear of embarrassing Mexican
President Felipe Calderon on the eve of his trip to Washington in May."

People are dying and lives are being ruined in America because of this
problem, and our government is worried about embarrassing the
president of Mexico -- who, by the way, had no such qualms about
embarrassing America on his visit, railing from the floor of our
Congress about Arizona's immigration law.

Obscene.

Mexican drug cartels, writes the Post , have become so serious and
sophisticated about poisoning America that they've found loopholes in
customs practices in China, India and Bangladesh to smuggle in tons of
cold medicines and other chemicals used to make meth for sale here --
"turning Mexico into the No. 1 source for all meth sold in the United
States, law enforcement agents say."

Authorities in San Diego recently discovered two new smuggling tunnels
- -- along with 40 tons of marijuana -- that were so elaborate they
included "lighting, ventilation, and a rail system for drugs to be
carried on a small cart," the Associated Press reports.

Also this past week, authorities in Mexico discovered yet another mass
grave -- this time with some 20 bodies, no doubt the handiwork of
illicit drug interests. The mayor of the small border town of Palamos,
across from Columbus, N.M., said the city doesn't even keep track of
those who go missing.

In Meoqui, Mexico, 36-year-old female police chief Hermila Garcia, 38
- -- in office just two months -- was attacked on her way to work and
killed.

But by all means, let's not embarrass the president by talking about
all this!

One television viewer made the point that the United States responded
to the North Korean incident, in which several South Koreans were
killed, with an aircraft carrier. Meanwhile, a war in which tens of
thousands have died is raging on our border -- and the collateral
damage seeps ever more into American society -- and no one in
Washington seems the least bit interested.

Just a bid odd, don't you think?
