DARE NOT WORKING

According to addiction counsellors, drug use is rampant in our schools
and malls. Why, then, do we have the drug abuse resistance education
(DARE) programs in our schools? Youths who would not think twice about
taking drugs are paying lip service to parents, teachers and the DARE
program.

I also have a problem with some media's characterization of Cassandra
Williams' death as an "unintentional overdose" of ecstasy. I'm not
trying to split hairs, but she did take three times a normal amount
and the pills themselves were said to be three times as potent.

To honour her memory, her friends and their friends must make a pact.
It would be wonderful to put all 16-year-old pushers out of business.
