REGULATING DRUGS WILL HELP CURB PROBLEMS

Congressman Charlie Dent sits on the U.S. House Committee on Homeland
Security that will hold hearings on the escalation and militarization
of the Mexican border drug war.

This approach in the history of the war on drugs has been met, by
criminals protecting their profits, with an intensification in
violence and increasing distribution.

This is a disaster in the making that will generate atrocious
violence across America. These militarized cartels have been given an
open door to expand across America by ill-conceived U.S. prohibition
policies, passed by Congress and co-sponsored by the current and
past presidents.

This criminal anarchy can and should be avoided by democratically
regulating the distribution of drugs. But our political leadership,
beating a crescendo of drug war drums, prefers to ''just say no.''
