MEDICAL MARIJUANA HEARING POSTPONED

Officials seek a bigger place to have the event.

The State Board of Health has postponed a rule-making hearing
concerning proposed amendments to the Medical Marijuana Registry
Program that was scheduled for March 18. The board anticipates the
hearing will be held sometime in June.

Due to significant public interest in the issue, the board is seeking
a larger venue to hold the hearing. Once a new date, time and
location for the rescheduled hearing have been determined, the
information will be posted on the Web site of the Colorado Department
of Public Health and Environment.

The department has proposed the following changes to the Medical
Marijuana Registry Program administered by the department:

Requiring notarized signatures on applications and related
forms.

Requiring compliance with the Colorado "Secure and Verifiable
Document Act." Limiting a "primary care-giver" to five patients per
care-giver.

Clarifying what is required to have "significant responsibility for
managing the well-being of the patient."

Modifying the process for a patient to change his/her caregiver on
the registry.

The deadline for submitting written comments to the State Board of
Health has been extended to May 15.
