THOSE WHO WANT 'LEGAL POT' ARE NOT IN THE KNOW

Editor, The Times:

Re: Decriminalization of pot to reduce gangster violence:

It amazes me that there is an element in our community that believes
that by decriminalizing pot we will reduce gangster violence.

Anyone with a thread of insight understands that the big prize is not
the Canadian market that uses the stuff (it is small potatoes); it is
the allure of guns, cocaine, heroin and cash from the U.S. market that
these drugsters want.

Those who want to decriminalize pot have their own agenda and are
unwilling to acknowledge the health, economic and criminal cost to
Canadians.

To be blunt, their rhetoric is self-serving.

Remember the saying "drugs are for mugs" and should we allow mugs to
dictate to us as a society?

We, as a society, have a responsibility to say no to drugs and we have
an obligation to press our federal government to take enact the
necessary legislation to punish these gangsters and ensure the
necessary facilities are available to remove these criminals from society.
