U.S. DRUG ABUSERS GUILTY IN MEXICO DEATHS

There was a short article in Monday's (Feb. 16) Albany Herald that
reported another act of violence across the border in Mexico. It
stated that "a police officer and his entire family of 10 were
murdered by gunmen." I am sure most Americans quickly write this off
as being Mexico's problem. It is time we woke up to the fact that U.S.
citizens are indirectly responsible for this incident and hundreds of
other murders in Mexico and here, because we are paying the murderers.

Atlanta is a major center for illegal drug distribution in the United
States. Atlanta is in Georgia, folks - these are fellow Georgians who
are not only doing the distribution but also the buying. Makes us feel
proud, doesn't it?

It is past time that drastic action is taken to shut down the drug
cartels. What the United States has been doing up to this time has not
worked. If this isn't stopped, we will soon be like Mexico.
Prohibition did not work for alcohol. It is not working for illegal
drugs.
