SCARED STRAIGHT MESSAGE COMES TO KELOWNA

The Scared Straight Program teaches youth about the dangers of
addiction by letting them see first hand the devastation of addiction.

The message the program teaches students and parents about the perils
of drug abuse will be presented at Dr. Knox Middle School on March
3.

Guest speaker Stan Mingo will speak to a very powerful power point
presentation of Vancouver's Downtown Eastside, the most infamous skid
row in all of North America.

Mingo is an ex-addict who became one of the biggest drug dealers in
B.C. before being sent to prison.

He now works on the front lines helping other addicts get
clean.

Mingo has done Scared Straight tours for more than four
years.

He runs a Recovery House for Crime Addicts in Vancouver and is an
alcohol, drug and family counselor.

He also holds a full-time job as a health care worker for the Coastal
Health Region.

The public presentation will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Dr.
Knox school, 121 Drysdale Blvd.
